About Me

I am a native of Western North Carolina. I was born in Andrews in the far western mountains, but my family moved to Henderson County in 1983 when I was 5. Growing up in Bat Cave, God brought me to saving faith in Jesus Christ around age 8, and I was baptized into the Bat Cave Baptist Church. At 19, while on a mission trip with my church in rural eastern Kentucky, I began to sense the call of God on my life to preach the Gospel. Within months, I enrolled at Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute to begin formal preparation for pastoral ministry.

While a student at Fruitland, God confronted me with biblical teaching on God’s sovereignty. As a result, I began to search the Scriptures regarding the doctrines of election and predestination. While reading Romans 9 one day, the LORD granted me clearer understanding of just how unworthy I was of God’s mercy in saving me. The result of this experience was a fiery passion to see others in Evangelical Christianity transformed and humbled by, what the Puritans loved to call, “the Doctrines of Grace.”

I continued my theological training at North Greenville College (now University) in Tigerville, South Carolina. There, while under the teaching of several godly professors, my understanding of the relationship of the doctrines of the Bible to each other was clarified and further matured. Several key areas of my theology were re-examined and critiqued in light of Scripture. It was also during this time that I learned of Founders Ministries, a movement committed to recovering the Biblical Gospel in Southern Baptist life.

I then completed a Master’s degree through Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. I also work for United Community Bank in Fletcher while laboring, by God’s grace, to shepherd Christ Covenant Baptist Church along with Pastor Joe Scarlata. I served as Minister to Children and Youth for Bat Cave Baptist Church before moving into the ministry of church planting. I also presently serve as Discipleship Director for the Carolina Baptist Association. In 2004, I met my wife, Jessica, and we were married July 30th, 2005 at Bat Cave Baptist Church. The Lord has since blessed us with fraternal twin girls, Abigail and Isabel.  My family and I live in the Flat Rock community near Hendersonville.
